2) Newton South High School in Newton
The City of Newton has some of the very best public tennis facilities in the entire city with many excellent locations to hit. If you’re reading this article, there’s a decent chance you’ve already played at the widely popular courts at Newton South High School. With 12 meticulously maintained green and blue courts, terrific lighting for evening play, plenty of parking when school is not in session, benches and a drinking fountain, it’s no secret why these courts are in such high demand.
3) William E. Carter Playground in Boston
Moving from the suburbs to the heart of the city, the tennis courts at Carter Playground are conveniently located just a short walk from the Massachusetts Ave T stop and offer players a truly incredible surface to hit on. Centrally located in Cleveland Circle right along the Green Line (both C and D branches), getting here from most parts of the city should be a piece of cake. The 7 well-maintained fully illuminated courts are always a delight to hit on. With amenities like benches, restrooms, and a drinking fountain right outside the gates, playing tennis here is always a pleasant experience. Highly sought after for most of the season, these tennis courts attract plenty of players on beautiful summer nights so waiting can be expected.
7) Tenean Beach in Boston

So close to the city center, in fact, you could probably hear the crowd inside TD Garden during an event. We recommend coming here hungry, working up more of an appetite on the court, and getting some delicious Italian food in the North End only blocks away. Complete with pickleball court lines and lights, these impressive courts surely won’t disappoint.
10) Francis X. Glacken Playground in Cambridge
Cambridge has a few fantastic options to serve your opponent a clear ace, and the tennis courts at this newly renovated park are as good as any of them. These 3 courts feature lights and a classic red and green look, plus a well-maintained surface that meets the needs of players who like their courts nicely finished. With an outdoor gym available right next to the courts, getting a pre- or post-tennis workout can be done on the spot. After the game, enjoy a relaxing walk and the beautiful scenery at Fresh Pond, only a stone’s throw away.
