Fort Williams Park (Portland Head Light)
(No Reviews Yet)
Located on Maine's rugged coastline just south of Portland, Fort Williams Park is an amazing place to soak in breathtaking views. Featuring one of the most celebrated lighthouses in the country, the postcard-perfect Portland Head Light stands out as the park's main attraction. Completed in 1791 and known as the most photographed lighthouse in America, Maine's oldest harbor beacon is a classic landmark visited by hundreds of thousands of people each year. Also renown for its retired military installations, Fort Williams served as an army post from 1872 to 1964 and operated as part of the Harbor Defenses of Portland. Now a park for all to enjoy, this wonderful outdoor space offers cliffside trails with stunning vistas of Portland Harbor and the open ocean, numerous picnic tables and BBQ grills, rolling lawns with tranquil reflection points, superb tennis and pickleball courts, and a small rocky cove beach.
