Also renown for its retired military installations, Fort Williams served as an army post from 1872 to 1964 and operated as part of the Harbor Defenses of Portland. Now a park for all to enjoy, this wonderful outdoor space offers cliffside trails with stunning vistas of Portland Harbor and the open ocean, numerous picnic tables and BBQ grills, rolling lawns with tranquil reflection points, superb tennis and pickleball courts, and a small rocky cove beach.
